Environmental Geology assignment.build your dream house

Students from Earth Sciences 20 will be coming in over the next two weeks to look at topos, aerial photos, geological maps, soil surveys and other items for the site of their .dream home. in California. While they may choose anywhere in CA for their project, the TA has suggested that a site in the local area might have more resources available. Santa Cruz soil surveys and California fault zone resources have been set aside for this class and are on the bookshelf outside Laura.s office.

U.S. Coast Survey of Pajaro River

Julie Hager of the Watershed Institute at California State University Monterey Bay wants an 1854 (approximately) U.S. Coast and Geodetic survey map of the Pajaro River northward that shows "vegetation and habitat types."

We found: Map of the Pajaro River and Vicinity, Northward, California, U.S Coast Survey, A.D. Bache, Supt., 1853.

It shows areas designated in different patterns, along the coast and from the river northward. However, there does not appear to be a key explaining what the designations mean.

The map is identified as part of survey T-442 and is in the folder with the other T-numbers in its group.

EART 152: Uniform Bldg Code Maps

Students from Jim Gill's Earth Sciences 152 class have started showing up to ask for a book he requested that I buy for the class. The students may call it maps for the Uniform Building Code, or some variation of that, but the actual title is:
"Maps of Known Active Fault Near-Source Zones in California and Adjacent Portions of Nevada".
It's in the oversize section outside Laura's office, and the call # is G 1526 .C55 M3 1998. It's spiral bound and almost 18" wide, green cover.

Herpetology Assignment BIO 143

21 students from Bio 143 / Herpetology have an assignment to plot points on a map and print it. The resulting map is part of a lab report.
They will be using the TOPO! CD-ROM. We should be able to use both PCs for this.
The assignment is due in 2 weeks, 2-17-04.
Alison Davis, the T.A. for this class, came in to tell us about it.
Barry Sinervo is the professor.
Alison will suggest that the students call us and sign up for the computer, like we do for the scanner. She will tell them we only have 2 computers and not to wait until the last minute.
