Weather Maps

Patrons asked for maps showing world-wide humidity and were sent down from Reference.
We have almost no maps that "show weather" or weather patterns.
We have a reference book in Maps called "Weather America", QC 903 W385 1996, which contains a lot of data, but it's now over 10 years old - and is just for the U.S.
It's difficult to visualize a map showing humidity for the entire world.
.

It seems to me that you couldn't generalize humidity data with any accuracy - you'd need a map of a smaller area. We can find climatological information in individual maps and atlases for specific regions (Indian Ocean) or countries, but not international ones.
Use the subject heading "climatology-maps" in Melvyl or Cruzcat to see some examples.
Web sites for government/NGO agencies include:
US:
http://weather.noaa.gov/ NOAA has international weather, &
http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/ Climate Analysis Branch on the web.
http://www.usda.gov/oce/weather/pubs/
Has international weather and crop summary
Non-US:
http://www.wmo.int/ The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations.

http://www.unesco.org/water/ The UNESCO Water Portal has a link to "HELP action areas: Water and Climate".

Reference books about weather include:
Encyclopedia of Climate and Weather (2 vols.) S&E Ref QC854.E523 1996
Other paths to pursue:
EART 80C - Intr Weather/Climate will be taught by Chuang, P. Y. -- Fall Q 07.
